Aspiration

Whenever I think about letting my fringe grow out, I look to this picture and snip snip snip.

D is for Dree

A little 'D' in the hollow (crook?) of the neck. One of the prettiest parts of the body adorned with the most delicate initial charm. Just another thing Dree Hemingway has that I kinda want. Dammit.

Makes me feel all fuzzy inside

The right shape, the right knit, the right colour. Dries Van Noten may have made the perfect fuzzy sweater.

fall feelin'

Last night, it was rather a bit chillier than it has been here for the past few weeks, and I was wearing both a cardigan and scarf around the house when it hit me: I miss Fall. As in the season. It is probably my favorite season in terms of fashion. I love summer as a season for weather, but I get bored quite easily with it style-wise. Autumn is perfect because there is that slight nip in the air, meaning you have to start layering up but not too much so that all you are wearing is the same coat and terrible tights for four months. I don't necessarily want it to be Fall right at this very moment though, summer is not autumn, and I'd be perfectly happy to have last week's heat wave repeat itself and wait a couple months for cooler temperatures and cozier clothes. Even so, lately I've been more attracted to images that are rather autumnal...like this fella's outfit. I love the doubled up cardigan look, and how gut-wrenchingly glorious is that red, white and blue cardigan? My gut, it wrenches.

all the right places

It doesn't take much to make me happy...and this outfit proves it. While simple -- a skirt and blouse -- the details such as the print on the blouse, the sleeves, the precise curve-hugging of the skirt and the fishnet-dotted tights all make it so much more enviable and admirable in my mind. To me, this is perfect spring/summer transition dressing. I couldn't care less about all that the Miami Vice-90s-neon-pastels look that seems to be floating around this summer. Give me this girl's outfit over that, any day. I can only hope to one day be able to pull off such detailed, tailored, sophisticated simplicity with her panache. Though I suppose I would have to minus the sophistication and throw in a bit of scruffy hair to make it truly me...ah well.

fun fun fun til her daddy takes the t-bird away

These pictures just ooze summer. Even though spring is in full swing here, I am constantly thinking about the next season, the warmer and bare-er glory days of summer, with nothing but blue sky and sun shinin' down on me. These gals outfits are exactly how summer clothes should be, simple and minimal with sunglasses and a hat for good measure. Now, where's my SPF 30?

Overalls, y'all

I still have a pair of overalls from 8th grade hanging up in my closet it at home. While I've long since relegated them to childhood memories, this girl has brought overalls back to the forefront of my mind. I mean, how did she manage to make them look so stylish? I will just have to be content to admire her bravado though, as I know full well overalls could never work on my 5'2" frame, unless my goal is to look 5 years old.

Inspiration: The Sartorialist's Boys

Some of my favorite Sartorialist pictures of late have been of men. The little things that these fellas do in terms of accessorizing & stylizing themselves puts me to shame. Let's hear it for the boys.

Velvet scarf, awesome boots and that bag!
This may just be the definition of dapper. I want his sunglasses like whoa.

Patter-mixing master

An extra-large safety pin as a brooch? My next "must find" accessory, methinks.

Wish list no. 4: Street Inspired

Blah, an artic front blew in yesterday. Heat way up, sociability way down. So with that forlorn winter attitude in mind, I've spent my weekend staring enviously at the fashionable around the globe to envisage what I would want if I could dress however I pleased.

I want...

To swathe myself in voluminous clothing without looking like I am wearing a sheet, or a muumuu, which inevitably always happens.
To look, unabashedly, like rock'n'roll.
To wear something faux furry. I've been on the hunt, but I don't seem to carry it well. I think because of my stature, I've been having trouble with the sizing and tend to look like a mini-gorilla.
To continue to wear plaid when everyone else is sick of it.
An oversized blazer that fits perfectly.
Chunky boots that are not doc martens. And, the discipline to dress monochromatically on occasion.
To wear a big furry hat with panache. Again, been on the search, but I apparently have a big head.

And those are my sunday dreams....kind of whiny, but I have to wear a scarf and hat inside while reading 100 pgs of legal philosophy and that is bound to make anyone a tinsy bit cranky.

She's got it

I don't necessarily believe in internet 'It' girls, since there seems to be a new one popping up every 15 seconds...but if there had to be one, then Refinery29 is spot on. This girl is my current street-style girl crush. Feminine, rocker, amazing. Love love love. (Is that creepy?)

Read refinery's blurb about her, or better yet check out her blog and you'll see what I mean!

Aye, lassie

Kirsten Dunst's rockin' the cutest lil sailor dress I ever did see. And to make things better, it's A.P.C., from this past S/S 08 line -- sold out of course, cute nonetheless. When the sun returns, I think I shall whip out my own version...which is not quite so sailor-y. You'll see what I mean. dum da dum dum.
